Rather than immediately begin with the Diagnostic Tests, some advanced preparation is advised. On the job a working electrician does not typically encounter the types of calculations which appear on license exams. Oh sure, some topics are included which electricians do use on the job. But the majority of question types have nothing to do with the work. Most questions are of an engineering or theory nature.

So you might want to go back to appropriate references like a theory book, an electrical calculations textbook, the National Electrical CodeŽ, and any other references which you feel might be of help to refresh your memory. Do a review for a couple hours.

Then go on to take the tests.

Have fun and don't get too discouraged. If you have managed to last in the electrical construction and maintenance business for this long, you obviously have a good mind. It just might need some additional training. But then what's new about that. We all have to either keep up with the times or get buried.

Cheers,
