2005 National Electrical Code Search Term Index 

Check out this great addition to any 2005 NEC. Certainly the NEC NFPA folks put together a great index to the NEC. But over the years I have found that there are many words, terms and phrases which are not easily found in the index and hence in the code book itself. So many years ago I began gathering unusual words for my own index which would help my electrical students find stuff fast in the NEC while studying and while taking exams. This Search Term Index is an excellent resource when trying to find something in the NEC.

2005 NEC® Reference Formulas Appendix 

The National Electrical Code folks are increasing the technical data contained in the code. But they still refuse to add formulas and tables which would make answering questions about electrical work easier to do. Further, they retain the desire that the book remain NOT a manual for untrained persons. So, very few aspects are included in the book to help an electrical instructor train beginning electricians. 

As a pragmatic blue collar worker and electrical instructor of over thirty years, I have brought together in this one booklet, all the formulas that I wish were in the NEC. In addition, I have constructed tables which I feel belong in the code. These tables are of my own invention and derivation. At the back of this book I have included over 2000 unusual words all referenced to the 2005 NEC as a way to find answers to questions about the NEC content. I call it  Search Term Index. None of the content has been submitted to the NFPA, nor has any of the detail been approved by the NFPA. I simply have taken what they have included and amplified that detail.

EXPERIENCED ELECTRICIAN --If you are an experienced electrician and wonder which if any of my materials would help you move toward your next licensing goal, please complete the Diagnostic Exam  BEFORE sending me an email asking what I would recommend to you. I have no way of knowing what your abilities are through an autobiographical email. I often get an email from someone who says they have, say, ten years of electrical experience. This 10 years could be ten great years with a variety of work types, or the 10 years could be the first six months of house wiring twenty times. There really is a difference. Some people take apprenticeship. Many do not.  Some people do not know what the NEC is and others are experts. Some people did not finish high school. Some are even college graduates. No matter. What is important are the results obtained on the Diagnostic Exam. Please do not expect me to offer suggestions on what you should study based on an email without some substance.
